Here we will soon start a blog on our Mixed Farming Center (MFC) and the Nursery School in Salikenni. The aim is to give you a deeper insight in our goals, motivations and core principles. You will also get updates on recent projects and the developments at MFC and the Nursery school.
Why do we believe that cooperations with the
Gambia College
and the
Gambian Department of Agriculture
are so important?
Why do we focus mainly on young people and women?
How do we handle the tension of fighting for universal human rights, the equality of gender and sexual orientation while respecting traditional Gambian culture and values?
Every two weeks there will be a short essay on one of those particular topics.
However, the blog will not only discuss matters closely related to our projects, but aims to widen the scopes on developmental cooperation in west-Africa. Therefore we will shed a light on West Africa’s colonial history and how post-colonial global structures play a role in reproducing the status quo. Other topics will be the hopelessness of young Gambian’s and their heartbreaking and often deadly attempts to illegally cross the Mediterranean Sea. After giving an introduction on the topic, we will critically reflect on how these considerations influence our work in Salikenni.
If you have any suggestions for topics or are interested in writing a post yourself, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
